Building The Circular Economy

Most people live and work in towns and cities. So the efficiency with which buildings are built, maintained and recycled can have a powerful impact on both our environmental footprint and cost of living.

As an example, construction and demolition waste makes up over a third of total waste generation in the EU.

In this special Circular Economy edition of ESGX Live, we will answer the following questions:
  1. Where is the most valuable waste in the urban environment and how can you mine it?
  2. How can you stimulate business activity to make the most of these opportunities, including SMEs in traditional industries?
  3. What are the challenges to be overcome by businesses and what are the commercial benefits?
  4. Why is this attractive to investors?

Our special guests for this episode will be:
  • Andrew McCue – who leads sustainable transformations in cities, agrifood, and packaging systems at Metabolic, based in Amsterdam
  • Rodin Genoff – an expert in stimulating commerce via industrial clusters, with recent experience in the Nordic region, Germany and Australia, based in Sydney, Australia
  • Dorte Christensen – CEO and co-owner of PKC, a family-owned traditional building company that has transtioned to circular economy practices
  • Tazia Smith – MD of Closed Loop Partners, a New York based investment firm that provides equity and project finance to scale products, services and infrastructure at the forefront of the development of the circular economy

We also welcome guest host Lucia Pohlman who will help to facilitate the discussions.
