The threat and risk of climate change has been understood for 50 years, since the seminal Limits To Growth work at MIT (finally popularized in VICE Magazine earlier this year). Indeed the French mathematician Joseph Fourier first identified the greenhouse effect in the early 1800s.
Just as the problems are well understood, so are many of the solutions - and even the barriers to implementing the solutions. We know that action creates better jobs too (see our Green Jobs episodes). There is plenty of financing available to invest the required infrastructure too. In this month, we'll explore the practical measures that you can take - in just an hour a week - that can have a profound impact on global warming, as we consider the following questions:
- What can you do in just 60 minutes a week that will make a real impact on climate change?
- How can you influence your employer, community and political representatives?
- Where do you start - and who should be your collaborators?
We'll be joined by guests who are at the forefront of action and entrepreneurship in relevant fields, including:
- Eliza Nemser, Founder of Climate Changemakers
- Cody Simms, Partner at My Climate Journey (and previously SVP, Climate & Sustainability at Techstars)
- Zali Steggall OAM MP, Member of the Australian House of Representatives for Warringah (Independent)
- Ian Monroe, Founder of Etho Capital
- Jamie Beck Alexander, Director, Drawdown Labs at Project Drawdown
