Earth4All is a global initiative that has enabled two years of ground-breaking economic and scientific research which shows quantitatively, for the first time, how our physical world, economies and financial systems, and society interact with each other. It marks fifty years since the publication of the iconic Limits to Growth (Jorgen Randers et al), and has been delivered by a core team of 50 with input from hundreds more.

One output is the new book Earth for All, which will be released on 20th September, which is in many ways a sequel to Breaking Boundaries (Johan Rockström, Owen Gaffney + narrated by Attenborough on Netflix).  The findings and recommendations represent the simplest, most economic set of solutions for the climate, environment and social challenges we face globally. Thus there are powerful implications for business and finance, not just government and civil society.

In partnership with Earth Echo International, the Georgie Badiel Foundation, the Jane Goodall Institute, Generation Unlimited and Share Save Spend, The Club of Rome, Pottinger, and Newday Impact Investing will host an interactive discussion with several of our world's most respected advocates for building a more sustainable world including;

  • The lead authors of Earth for All, including Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Sandrine Dixson-Declève (Co-Chair, Club of Rome), as well as Owen Gaffney, and Per Espen Stocknes of Earth For All
  • Impact leaders Anna Rathmann (Executive Director of the Jane Goodall Institute), Philippe Cousteau (co-founder of Earth Echo International), Georgie Badiel (Georgie Badiel Foundation), Kevin Frey (CEO of Generation Unlimited)

Leading climate scientists, development economists and decision-makers with gather to discuss the policy options needed urgently to accelerate systems change to secure wellbeing for all within planetary boundaries.

Split into two sessions, the first hour will focus on the findings detailed in Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity. This will include details of the five extraordinary turnarounds that are needed in order to achieve a Giant Leap and stabilise temperatures below 2°C (above pre-industrial levels), stabilise the population well below nine billion people, reduce material use and approach an end to extreme poverty globally a generation earlier than if we continue with business as usual. In this scenario, social tension falls, and wellbeing rises throughout the century because of greater income equality. In the second hour, leading policymakers and leaders will then discuss the concrete actions that are needed to upgrade our economic systems, and transition to wellbeing economies.

Speakers include:
• Teresa Ribera, Vice-President and Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Government of Spain
• Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment of the Arab Republic of Egypt, COP 27 Envoy and Ministerial Coordinator
• Arnoldo André, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica
Plus, authors of Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity
• Sandrine Dixson Declève, Co-President of the Club of Rome
• Johan Rockström, Director, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research
• Jayati Ghosh, Professor at the College of Social and Behavioural Sciences, University of Massachusetts Amherst
• Owen Gaffney, Analyst, Stockholm Resilience Centre
• Per Espen Stoknes, Director of Centre for Green Growth at the Norwegian Business School.
