Australia 4.0: Delivering Prosperity in the 21st Century

Overview
Picture
Live show
Huge technological shifts are impacting societies around the world, including the widespread shift to renewable energy and electrification of transport, the Robot Revolution (ie the automation of decision-making) and the advent of the bioeconomy. These three parallel revolutions are already having a profound impact on economies and are changing where and how capital should best be invested to create prosperity for all.

In this special episode, we will explore these issues through the eyes of Australia and its neighbours in the Asia Pacific region, considering questions such as:
  • Which technological shifts will have the largest impact this decade?
  • Will this drive polarisation of wealth, including between nations?
  • Where and how countries should invest to address these shifts?

Australia is a particularly interesting case study, given the historic economic strength derived from capital intensive activities such as mining, and its opportunities in both green energy generation as well as the bioeconomy.

We'll be joined by three guests who bring diverse perspectives covering economics, technology, energy and the bioeconomy, and perspectives from the public, private and non-profit sectors.  They are:
  • Adam McKissack, Chief Economist of the Business Council of Australia
  • Robyn Elliott, Chair of Phyllome, and who has previously held senior CTO, COO and other executive roles in some of Australia's largest companies
  • Mara Bun, a director of Australian Ethical, one of the world's longest established investment management businesses, and co-founder of The Salmon Project

The discussion will be led by your regular co-hosts Paul Herman (HIP Investor) and Nigel Lake (Pottinger).  As always, this episode will be live and interactive, with a particular focus on practical actions that businesses, governments and individuals can take -- and the economic and ecological benefits of doing so.
